Country House for Relaxation in Spain
Architectural bureau The Nieuw and studio Ibiza Interiors worked on the Ibiza Campo Loft project in the village of San Juan Bautista, Spain. An old abandoned warehouse and workshop with a century-old history were transformed into a cozy 80 square meter house in the north of the island.
The building had not been used for many years and was in very poor condition. Only the walls and parts of the roof could be preserved, and electricity, water, and sewage had to be installed independently to meet all modern requirements. For example, water comes from a private well, solar panels are used for water heating, floor heating, and electricity. The house became completely self-sufficient.
The owner of the house, the lead architect of the project, designed a well-thought-out layout with a large open space on the southern side of the building and a view over the valley. The living area connects to a large private terrace. Two bedrooms are located in the northern corners of the building to remain dark and cool. The house also includes a dining room and a bathroom with operable windows.
The result is a modern country house where contrast plays a major role: old and new, stylish and rural, bright and dark, rough and soft. Incredible mountain views, a yoga platform on the roof, many fruit trees, and a garden—this is truly a paradise corner. Campo Loft is currently used as a showcase project and guest house.
