Red House on a Farm in Portugal
Architectural studio Rebelo de Andrade designed a private house in the countryside of Portugal. The 3000 House residence is located on the Herdade da Rassera farm, covering about 500 hectares of dry land approximately seven kilometers from the city of Alcacer do Sal, Portugal.
The house and farm building were designed to minimize construction time and costs while ensuring energy resilience. Solar panels and thermal collectors produce more energy than the house consumes.
With its gabled roof, simple doors, and windows, the exterior of the house resembles a charming child's drawing. Its apparent simplicity is actually rooted in collective and romantic imagery, symbolizing a house in the prairie for pioneers and settlers of the American frontier.
