Light Cottage by the River9 photos

This simple beach cottage is located on the banks of the Kis-Ráb river near the city of Káptár, Hungary. "This has always been a big challenge for designing a lakeside house," says the project's author, an architect from Tóth Project Architect Office. - We wanted to create something special and unique. The cottage is situated in a wonderful place; on this peaceful island, we feel a special atmosphere, cut off from the outside world. We envisioned a house that is an organic part of its environment and communicates closely with it. The cottage has a simple matchbox shape.

Simplicity is not only reflected in the building's form, but also in the moderate use of a limited selection of natural and artificial materials. The entire building is made from larch, without any unnecessary decorations. The main facade is characterized by transparency and delicacy. The house consists of two main blocks: one contains the central hall with a living room and dining area, while the other is an open terrace with a roof, under which additional storage space is located. The central space features fully glazed surfaces facing the lake; when needed, internal spaces can be closed off from outsiders using wooden panels or heavy curtains.
