Modern Extension of a Cottage in Victorian Style
Modern Extension of a Cottage in Victorian Style
Ultra-modern solution for the renovation and extension of an old cottage in West Tytherley, United Kingdom, was presented by the architectural firm Stephen Marshall Architects. The 70-square-meter addition features contemporary glass walls in the kitchen on the first floor and the bedroom on the second level, coexisting with the original historic English cottage in Victorian style.
The design is innovative, and significant computer modeling was required to create the open-plan layout. Architects successfully emphasized how distinctly the extension differs from the original structure by filling the empty space in the L-shaped plan. The cost of the extension project was £250,000.
