Green-Enveloped House in Australia
The architectural bureau Auhaus Architecture designed a private house, Ivanhoe House, in the suburbs of Melbourne, Australia, built on a densely tree-lined slope descending to a river. The residence is divided into two wings that connect at the entrance, forming a well-maintained inner courtyard contrasting with the wild nature at the back of the house. The living room opens directly to two sides, making it most immersed in the surrounding landscape. The main bedroom resembles a treehouse wrapped in lush foliage. At the same time, the residence is protected from outside views and neighboring houses.
The palette of materials mirrors the colors of the surrounding landscape, enhancing the feeling of the house being immersed in nature.
