This spacious residence was built by YH2 on the shores of Lake Superior, in the Laurentian region, Canada. The building is situated on a granite hill with a view capable of enchanting even the most discerning connoisseur — toward the lake and Mount Tremblant in front of it.
Atop, a large sail of white cedar wood, like a wooden wing extending far beyond the glass pavilion, protects the structure from sunlight and allows for an outdoor covered area that continues the interior design.
Perpendicular to the wooden wing, the main two-story building is constructed, nearly opaque, with service areas and rooms.
The entire structure balances on the fine line between transparency and opacity, between night and day.
The use of a limited material palette both inside and outside — white cedar wood, polished concrete, black aluminum, and transparent glass — breaks down the boundaries between architecture and nature.
