Cozy Cottage Among Norwegian Cliffs12 photos
Perched among the cliffs of one of the Oslofjord islands, Norway, the Østfold cottage was designed by the studio Lund+Slaatto Arkitekter.
Natural boundaries of the cottage are formed by the preserved foundation of an existing building on this site. To make the home as spacious as possible, architects developed a unique roof design that transitions from the facade facing the slope into a side wall, giving the volume a sense of unity.
Drawn by the rocky coastal landscape, designers conceived the interior space of the cottage as a multi-level open-plan area with functional zoning.
The house and terrace are clad in cedar wood, which partially covers the windows, allowing filtered sunlight to enter the home.
Wood cladding, together with a sleek gable roof, gives the cottage an appearance reminiscent of traditional housing, creating a feeling of a bright and cozy home on the harsh northern coast.
