Smart Home in Sydney's Suburbs
Constrained by a narrow and inconvenient plot shape, as well as the clients' commitment to passive solar design and natural lighting, architects managed to create a two-story residence of 344 square meters, the main highlights of which include a swimming pool with a transparent wall connecting it to the living room space, and a building exterior in the form of a vertical garden.
Acting as a visual link between internal and external spaces, the pool refracts natural light, filling the entire house with water reflections. The pool was initially constructed as a concrete structure, after which an acrylic wall was incorporated with a carefully designed waterproofing system.
The vertical garden is created using special screens and custom-made plant fixtures. It protects the home's interior from outside views and is equipped with LED backlighting.
The residence is fitted with a home automation system. The client can choose from a wide range of pre-programmed lighting and sound settings, as well as set up their own "scenarios" controlled with a single touch. These can even be activated remotely.
