Villa on Spanish Golf Resort
London-based architecture studio RHE completed construction of the four-bedroom villa La Vinya on the outskirts of the world-famous PGA Catalunya golf resort. Located in the foothills of the Pyrenees in northeastern Spain, PGA Catalunya features two open-standard golf courses and a series of unique architectural villas.
The open communal area of 80 square meters resembles a high plateau with a terrace and pool, as well as a summer kitchen with barbecue. A large double-sided fireplace divides the space into two areas with panoramic views. The main bedroom has a chamber-like atmosphere despite being just a few meters away from the main residence. Its panoramic glazing allows full enjoyment of the surrounding trees with wide canopies.
Integrating the building into the natural environment, studio RHE created a pavilion and a grape-vined covered courtyard filled with greenery. Locally sourced materials such as zinc, wood, and ceramics were chosen to ensure that the villa becomes an even more valuable feature of the landscape over time. To make the structure as energy-efficient as possible, architects equipped it with LED lighting, high-quality double glazing, and solar panels.
The residence is located near the city of Gerona, the hills of Olot, and Barcelona, making it an attractive destination for golfers, cyclists, architecture enthusiasts, and food and wine lovers.
