Cozy House in the Village of Okinawa Prefecture, Japan14 photos
The house in the village of Okinawa Prefecture was designed by ISSHOArchitects with the aim of creating a new form of architecture that, relying on modern technologies, is inextricably linked to nature. Although the final result largely adheres to traditional principles of architecture, there is undoubtedly a certain progress in design achieved.
Usually, support beams are placed parallel to the walls to reinforce the structure. However, when designing them in this way, ventilation and spatial openness are limited. Therefore, the architect's idea was to install braces connecting them to the external supports of the building. At the same time, eaves are extended to these external supports to ensure proper dimensions of the structure and control wind pressure. Thus, the structure composed of 12 braces and external supports provides sufficient strength and resists wind loads, even in the form of typhoons.
