Construction of a private house Black House with an area of 400 square meters in Kent County was completed in summer 2017 by the architectural firm AR Design Studio. Being a modern building, the residence reflects not only the influence of new but also historical architecture of the region.
The rectangular structure of Black House is divided into blocks, each connected to different parts of the garden, inviting a walk around the house. The view of the entire site with its well-planned organization is only visible from the brick tower.
Access to the house can be gained through any of the three entrances designed along the axes of the building. The kitchen-dining room is a large space with windows facing east towards the morning sun. Through floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors, an interesting perspective on the garden and vineyard is revealed. The living room faces the swimming pool to the west, both of these spaces are well-suited for relaxation and entertainment. A panoramic horizontal window frames the view from the dining room onto the lawn in front of the building. Bedrooms, the final functional block of the residence, are characterized by a sense of seclusion and intimacy due to their proximity to the forest at the back of the house.
All these spaces are connected by a central inner courtyard, allowing light and fresh air to constantly enter the house.
The Black House residence, as a sequence of dramatic impressions related to the garden, is a modern response to the historical appearance of Kent County.
