House in the Suburbs of Cape Town26 photos
A house with an area of 789 square meters, built according to the project by Malan Vorster Architecture Interior Design studio in the picturesque suburbs of Cape Town, South Africa, does not hide behind a high white fence like its neighbors. The building is visually accessible from the street and harmoniously fits into the urban landscape: architects paid special attention to landscape design and the street sidewalk.
The two lower levels of the house (garage and guest rooms) are embedded into the slope of the hill, while two additional floors rise above them, accommodating the main living spaces.
Large panoramic windows built into concrete blocks are protected by sliding cedar wood shutters that shield the house from overheating.
The living room seamlessly connects internal and external spaces, flowing smoothly into a convenient green courtyard.
Materials used in the project, such as wood-textured concrete, local stone, untreated cedar wood, terrazzo floors, and corten steel, are designed to gradually change color and texture over time, making the house more noble and refined with age.
