Architects of Bohlin Cywinski Jackson studio designed a complex of 6 mansions and 11 townhouses on a ski resort near Lake Tahoe, USA.
The complex offers two types of objects — family mansions and townhouses.
Entering the mansion from the upper floor, its residents are immediately immersed in the mountain landscape with a wonderful view of the Martis Valley and the Carson Range. Large glazed spaces provide close visual connection with the scenery. The master bedroom, flooded with sunlight thanks to its three glazed walls, seems to float above the ski run, creating an impression that you are looking down from the tops of trees.
Compact and efficient townhouses stretch along the mountain slope, following the curve of the ski run. Utility systems and storage are organized along shared walls to free up more space for sleeping areas, providing seasonal overflow accommodation. The buildings are well lit and maintain close contact with the natural environment.
