Studio Heliotrope designed an enchanting country house on Orcas Island in Washington State, USA. Hidden among the green forests of the nature reserve zone of the San Juan archipelago, this cozy cottage is a modern oasis designed for creativity and contemplation.

Key features of the project include sustainable building practices that enhance the value of this architectural gem. Minimizing the building's impact on the surrounding landscape, the roof is planted with grass to compensate for any land loss caused by construction. Rainwater runoff was designed to replicate what existed on the site previously. Local materials (primarily Douglas fir and red cedar) and local craftsmen were used for furniture and project details.

The interior is filled with natural wood, complemented by soft furnishings in vibrant colors that add dynamism to the space. The peaceful energy of this home makes it an ideal place for living in harmony with oneself and nature.
