Villa in Cherry Blossom Garden17 photos
Restoration and expansion of an old pre-war building, carried out by Bureau XII studio in the suburbs of Sofia, Bulgaria, was undertaken to create a guesthouse with a restaurant and relaxation area. The plot located in the garden is near a local attraction — Mount Vitosha — and 12 kilometers from the capital's center.
The old building with its simple facade, tile Alpine roof, and deep cornice embodies the familiar image of a mountain house. The new volume is connected to it through openings cut into the existing facade. A two-story atrium with a glass roof connects the interiors of both parts of the structure and allows natural light to fill the interior spaces of the residence. A panoramic lift installed in the atrium carries guests to the main terrace.
On the first floor is the 'salon' — a large bright room with sliding glass doors offering views of the adjacent garden. This multi-functional area can be used for various scenarios — as a restaurant, venue for events, conference hall, and more. On the second floor, in addition to rooms, there is a small gym with spa and a large terrace.
The roof of the building features an open-air bar and a pool with a stunning view of Mount Vitosha. The basement houses a wine cellar and kitchen.
