Summer Cottages in Western Zealand
A complex of three summer cottages in Western Zealand, Denmark, designed by the studio RUBOW arkitekter, is located in a pine forest by the Baltic Sea.
Natural elements were important for the project both in terms of the overall placement of the cottages and in terms of material selection.
Nature is seamlessly integrated into the architecture through smooth transitions between interiors and outdoor spaces. Carefully chosen views, with priority given to maritime panoramas, played a key role in orienting all three cottages and their terraces.
The poetic use of warm, natural materials highlights the charm of a simple and peaceful life in nature. Light gray matte polished concrete covers the floors, while walls and ceilings are clad with light pine plywood.
The buildings are externally finished with dark-toned wood that harmonizes with the surrounding forest.
