House Among Flemish Fields
TOOP architectuur studio designed a house for one family on a plot located north of the village Westerlo, Belgium. A typical northern Flemish rural landscape had a huge influence on the architecture of this building, surrounded by fields and scattered farms.
The orientation of the building provides the most favorable views of nature from various possible vantage points.
The open-plan living room, combined with the dining room and kitchen, is located in the northern part of the construction. This is also the side where the connection with the natural environment is pushed to its maximum. The intimate inner courtyard forms a private zone for the inhabitants and serves as a gateway for natural light to enter. This patio is the heart of the house, where its life is defined by the constant change of seasons.
