House by the secluded lagoon
Project firm Platform 5 Architects presented a private house Backwater with an area of 165 square meters, replacing an outdated bungalow in Norfolk County, England. Built by the secluded lagoon, it belongs to Patrick Mitchell, director of Platform 5 Architects.
The low-rise structure is composed of three blocks, with sloped roofs resembling boat covers. The roofs and side walls are clad in black wooden shingles, while the front and back facades remain unprocessed, creating a textured appearance. Deep eaves emphasize the bold silhouette of the house and provide protected outdoor spaces suitable for year-round use, referencing the porches of neighboring coastal cottages in Edwardian style built as holiday homes focused on leisure and relaxation.
