House in China with 43 Square Meters
Project firm B.L.U.E. Architecture Studio transformed an unusual house near the historical center of Beijing, China. The residence has an L-shaped form and is situated directly between an old hutong and a two-story building, resembling a giant sandwich. Architects aimed to make the 43 square meter space more functional, cozy, and modern. The house is home to a family of six.
The single room on the second floor includes a children's bedroom and play area. Safety for the growing generation is ensured by carpets and nets used in the interior design.
The common corridor running through all rooms connects internal spaces with outdoor relaxation zones. The elongated glazed opening in the ceiling provides sufficient light to the space. The facade in the back yard area consists of glass with a wooden frame, allowing the door to be opened wide to let fresh air into the house when desired.
