Project firm Govaert & Vanhoutte Architects presented the VDB residence, built in the city of Sint-Maartens-Latem, Belgium. The private house stands on the riverbank and differs from neighboring buildings by its brutal concrete facade. The villa is designed for the lifestyle of its owner, who loves the fun of a bachelor.
From the river side, we see horizontal lines of the concrete facade. The first floor includes the living zone rooms, a terrace for relaxation, and a house by the pool. The second, smaller level is designed with the main bedroom and bathroom, as well as two guest bedrooms with bathrooms. The rooftop terrace adjoins only the master block, thus offering the owner solitude with a view of the river and garden. The basement floor accommodates the entertainment and relaxation zone. Dark interior design recalls a cave, yet such a cozy and inviting one that you don't want to leave.
An interesting architectural element is the car lift, which allows exclusive models from the owner's collection to be lowered to the basement floor for display in the relaxation area. There, attention is drawn by a large window through which you can see the pool, a glass wine cellar, a DJ console for hosting parties, and a cigar room.
