Bright Space of a Penthouse in Valencia
Architectural firm Josep Ruà. Spatial designer renovated the building superintendent's attic in Valencia, Spain. The updated 70 sq. meter space was transformed into a modern penthouse with a terrace. The designer planned additional skylights in the building's roof to fill the rooms with light. The living room, combined with dining and kitchen areas, is located at the center of the residence.
The use of natural materials in light tones unifies the space into a single whole, while furniture created according to the designer's plans adds an original character to the interior. The main bedroom is arranged where the former terrace was, which was decided to be converted into a secluded area. The bathtub island in the bathroom is set into the floor and has the same finish as the floor. A mirror-surfaced partition divides functional zones and creates various reflection options, enhancing and complicating the interior design.
A large double bed is positioned with its headboard facing the wall, from which a sculptural volume descends forming bedside tables on both sides. The penthouse also includes a guest room with a separate bathroom and toilet. The open terrace area is furnished with various benches that are comfortable for sitting or lying down. Covered with teak wood, they blend harmoniously with green plants and the surrounding landscape.
