Architectural bureau Vodusek&Dolecek implemented the project of a private residence Vila Mravljevi in a picturesque rural area of Slovenia. Built on a hill surrounded by vineyards and fruit orchards with views over the valley and plateau, this house combines an old stone structure and a wing. Architects carried out the renovation of the residence, preserving historical elements while adding functionality and style to them. Next to the renovated building now stands a new construction that rose on the site of a destroyed wing not suitable for restoration. It includes a dining room, kitchen, games and relaxation rooms, as well as a sauna. The main part of the house contains three bedrooms with bathrooms, a living room, dining room, kitchen and wine cellar. Architects preserved the stone walls and replaced old wooden elements with concrete. They also added a steel staircase, a four-meter window and painted the original wooden ceiling in white. The interior features a harmonious blend of retro elements with modern-style items. From an energy consumption perspective, the project meets modern standards, as the house operates a heat pump and has photovoltaic panels installed on the roof for electricity generation, as well as solar collectors for water heating. Thus, the residence is self-sufficient.
