Guest House Complex in the State of Maine12 photos
Architectural bureau GO Logic presented the project Little House on the Ferry — a seasonal guest house in the U.S. state of Maine. A small complex with an area of 83 square meters consists of three separate cottages connected by terraces. The design of the residence is based on a balance between a gentle approach to nature and its gifts along with creating conditions for protection from harsh winds and the influence of marine climate. Owners of the house spend most of their time in Austria, spending only summer holidays here.
Therefore, when a land plot for sale was offered near their main residence on the island, they immediately purchased it to build a guest house for family and friends. Given the remote location of the object, architects preferred a system of prefabricated cross-laminate timber panels, which is a sustainable and economically efficient solution that reduces labor use and minimizes environmental impact. One of the houses is equipped with a living room and kitchen, while the other two are dedicated to separate bedrooms and bathrooms.
