Asymmetrical Chalet in France

We are used to associating the word chalet with large houses where wooden beams contrast with luxurious and refined decorative elements, where spacious living rooms have lots of open space and bulky interior items. But this work by the talented American-French designer Marianne Tiegen differs from the 'usual' chalets we know. It differs primarily in its groundedness. This is a small house, with very cozy rooms that are close to our hearts.

There are no grand spaces or high ceilings here. This house looks like one that could be built with a modest budget, using simple natural materials: linen textiles in warm tones, lots of wood and stone. The designer avoided bright accents in the color palette, which made this project unique. Special attention should be paid to the bathroom: hidden plumbing, plastered walls, and a worn-out frame — and we seem to be in another time and space!
