Massive and Open Private House in Chile
The home project, surrounded by mountains and hills of the city of Santiago in Chile, was presented by architects from the firm 01ARQ. On a 1000 square meter site with significant elevation changes, the goal was to create a functional space that harmoniously connects with the surrounding landscape. To achieve this, architects built stone walls that enabled the formation of internal courtyards at different heights. The entrance area is decorated with a pond and enclosed by a wall made of old wooden rails used in railway lines. Two additional courtyards surround the kitchen located in the southern part of the house. They enhance ventilation and allow light to enter the basement level where the children's playroom is located. Bedrooms are situated on the second floor above the living room and dining area, which offer a beautiful view of the main inner courtyard with a pool. The barbecue zone is located between the living room and playroom, and from there one can access the upper garden via a travertine staircase.
