Cozy and Elegant ED House by Lake Araucania, Chile + (Video)8 photos
The ED house, designed for two families, can be found near Lake Araucania in Chile. The design of the residential house was completed in 2014 by the studio Eduardo Guzmán Rivera + Juan Carlos Muñoz Del Sante. Due to the risk of overheating during warm weather, architects had to find effective and environmentally friendly ways to cool it down. The solution came in the form of an automated ventilation system with windows that use winds blowing from the north and south. Another complex issue was the steep slope on which the house was built.
For additional strength and support, the ED House features a reinforced concrete slab with concrete ribs extending to the lake. The main social area is the living room, located at the center of the dwelling. It serves as a gathering place for both families, hence it includes comfortable sofas, a large wooden coffee table, and a dining table that can accommodate up to ten guests. The house offers accommodation for residents in two wings connected by an external staircase. The main bedrooms are located at the ends of these volumes and provide a magnificent view of the surroundings, ensuring maximum privacy.
