The kindergarten in Glyfada, Greece, was designed by KLab architecture studio. One of the most challenging aspects of this project was restoring the architect's role in the implementation process, as developers usually do not oversee construction in public buildings in Greece. Additionally, one of the contract conditions was to use prefabricated construction methods.
The classrooms are organized around a central inner courtyard and feature several smaller atriums.
Wooden pergolas placed along the facades provide additional comfort for children. On the other hand, greenery is a significant architectural element, as the plane trees in the courtyard will grow over time and provide abundant shade, while other tree species will emphasize seasonal changes.
