The concept of the sauna developed in the city of Marupe, Latvia, by the architectural bureau SPOT is based on the idea of Axis Mundi or the World Axis. The project emphasizes the contrast between hot and cold and symbolically reflects all four fundamental elements of the universe — Water (pool), Fire (sauna), Air (roof window), and Earth (relaxation room).
