Studio eklund_terbeek worked on the interior design of a 230 square meter apartment in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The Gym Loft residence is located in the old building of a school from the early 20th century and occupies the lower floor of the former sports hall. The apartment belongs to a creative family connected to theater and choreography.

A small living room and kitchen open up to the garden and form an open space, while bedrooms and bathrooms are placed in enclosed volumes. Children's rooms are located on the first floor, adjacent to a shared playroom and bathroom. A quiet and secluded parents' bedroom with a private bathroom is designed above the children's area.

The selected material palette is limited to a light and minimal color scheme with several graphic accents. Walls, ceiling, and beams are painted white, while the ceiling is partially clad with sound-absorbing gypsum boards that add texture and provide pleasant acoustics to the large space. Oak elements, such as floating staircases and wall panels, bring warmth and a sense of continuity. A long kitchen island with a white Carrara marble countertop adds light touches of white and light gray. On the second floor, the oak floor in the main bedroom is complemented by Travertine marble in the bathroom.
