Apartment in Kyiv with 78 sq. meters
Architect Rina Lovko, representing the studio Rina Lovko Design, filled a typical Kyiv apartment with elements of Japanese minimalism. The 78-square-meter residence is flooded with daylight, although in the initial layout it had many unnecessary doors, dark corners, and a heavy wall in the center. The architect decided to demolish all walls and build a new space from scratch. As a result, only two doors remain in the entire apartment — one to the bathroom and one for entry — eliminating any dark corners in the plan.
The compact kitchen is connected to the living room and located in an improvised niche. Building a multifunctional wall in the living room allowed installing an air conditioning system, bio fireplace, home cinema, sound equipment, projector, hidden wardrobes, and dynamic lighting in one place.
To visually expand the space, the architect used many mirrors. For example, in the L-shaped corridor, a mirrored corner reflects the wardrobe and makes the space visually square.
Only natural materials were used in the project. The wardrobes are finished with oak veneer, custom-made glass shelves. The wooden bed frame with side panels and window shutters were also made according to an individual sketch.
