Hidden Chaos: Apartment in Paris Suburbs
Hidden Chaos: Apartment in Paris Suburbs
The studio h2o architectes completed the renovation of an 85-square-meter apartment in the suburbs of Paris (France), maximizing the use of existing space and eliminating all the inevitable everyday clutter within specially designed volumes.
Different functions of daily life were isolated into separate volumes. They are made of wood and resemble envelopes in shape. Each function is marked by a different type of wood, adding contrast to the overall interior palette. At the same time, these volumes define the surrounding space. The boxes are placed at a distance from load-bearing walls, leaving clear access to large balcony windows. The slanted edges at the top visually separate the boxes from the ceiling. These slants help to appreciate the open and renewed external space.
Each box is equipped with a window. Inside, there are many shelves, wardrobes and other useful elements.
The size of the boxes is adjusted to meet the needs of the room inside, while maximizing the open space outside, which is the main living area of the apartment.
