Apartment in Garden Gallery in Barcelona
Apartment in Garden Gallery in Barcelona
Studio YLAB Arquitectos decorated the interior of an apartment located in an old building in the Gràcia district, Barcelona, Spain. The 90 square meter space was originally divided into six rooms and was very dark and uncomfortable. The new owners, a Norwegian couple who are passionate about design and Barcelona, immediately saw the potential of the sunny inner courtyard covered with ivy vines and decided to buy the apartment. They wanted to transform it into a bright and open space for relaxation and create a small garden.
The new layout is centered around an open L-shaped space connected to the garden gallery and inner courtyard. Access to the bedroom with its own bathroom is possible through the guest restroom. The kitchen is hidden within a cabinet system made of natural light oak. The living room is divided into an inner area and a relaxation space in the garden gallery. The workspace is concealed within one of the wardrobes in the living room. By the way, floor-to-ceiling wardrobes are installed along the perimeter of the apartment and replace internal partitions, serving not only as storage spaces but also as room dividers.
