Eco-loft in New Jersey: the new life of a 19th-century factory
In the 19th century, this building in New Jersey, USA, housed a factory, and all adjacent structures were single-story. However, for the family who recently moved into this home, there wasn't enough space, so they began a large-scale renovation. They added a second floor, replaced all windows, built a terrace and backyard. The result is an amazing collaboration between loft and eco styles. The kitchen-living room area was decorated with wooden beams and industrial mechanisms in memory of its industrial past. Other rooms are made from natural materials, with minimal decor and furniture. It's hard to believe that these walls once echoed with the sounds of machinery and bustling work, as now it's a green-surrounded house perfect for meditation and a relaxed lifestyle.
