Phenomenal Transparency of a Hong Kong Apartment
The interior of a 75-square-meter apartment in Hong Kong, designed by studio OFGA, reflects a philosophy that finds meaning not in postponing life or investing in the future, but in fully living each moment of the present.
The challenge was how to apply the principle of open planning. Architects approached this using the concept of adjacency, allowing them to concentrate the most private areas on minimal space, thereby maximizing the freedom of the rest of the apartment.
The result is spaces that unfold like a canvas being unrolled, achieving what architect theorist Colin Rowe would call "phenomenal transparency".
