Apartment on Park Avenue for a young woman
The apartment on Park Avenue in New York, USA, was designed by The New Design Project for a young client. Architects wanted the space to reflect both the characteristics of the residence location and the lifestyle of the client.
Black and copper elements of the furniture wall and a large abstract painting create a bold contrast with the rest of the room.
Adding drama to the interior, architects combined furniture from different styles. Mid-century chairs coexist with modern design items such as custom-made marble and black oak bedside tables in the bedroom or a fabric-covered bench in the dining room.
By refusing to alter the layout of the apartment, the studio used lighting to draw attention to the existing spatial structure. Pendant lights from Apparatus hang freely from the ceiling in the living room, while Lindsey Adelman-designed chandeliers are installed in the dining room and bedroom.
