Luxury Apartment in Tadao Ando House in New York
Luxury apartment in Tadao Ando house in New York
Interior design firm Gabellini Sheppard completed the decoration of a residence in a multi-family building at 152 Elizabeth Street in New York, USA, designed by Tadao Ando Architect & Associates studio. The building became the first residential structure designed by the Japanese architect, a Pritzker Prize winner, located outside of Asia.
Its distinguishing features include white ceilings 2.7 meters high and natural lighting provided by large sliding windows.
The floors, bedroom doors, and selected wall panels are made of Danish oak. The soft and serene neutral color palette, along with the variety of stone textures, creates an atmosphere of luxury and comfort.
The apartment is furnished with furniture and accessories from New York stores DDC and Atelier Courbet, and adorned with artworks from the Chelsea gallery Yossi Milo.
The building contains only seven apartments, ranging from two to five bedrooms each; the roof features a large terrace with a pool. The architecture of this seven-story building is marked by characteristic elements of Ando's design style, including his dedication to monolithic concrete.
