Young Free Gentleman's Apartment
Young Free Gentleman's Apartment
Creative studio Fateeva Design implemented a 40 square meter project in Kyiv, Ukraine. The interior logic of this apartment is based on the lifestyle of a single person, which means minimal compromises and maximum self-expression for the client – a young free gentleman.
Another significant stylistic element of the apartment is the bedroom block. The realization of a full room for rest became possible after attaching the balcony to the living area. The architectural volume is extremely lightened and almost does not block access to natural light in the apartment: the walls of the structure are glazed along the upper perimeter, and the entrance is equipped with a sliding door. The color scheme in the finishing predominantly features a very light gray-beige tone.
The futuristic appearance becomes even more vivid inside the 'cube.' Here, the witty idea becomes clear: the partitions between rooms are constructed according to furniture principles. Minimalist facades have been mounted on a metal frame of the supporting structure; the headboard and bed base represent the same construction, the same minimalist approach. As a result, wall thickness tends toward zero, saving living space, and the entire bedroom interior is perceived as a seamless, unified volume. In this extremely clean space, only a couple of accents are present: an original poster and a familiar emerald tone in the facades of built-in storage systems.
Except where functionally necessary, there are no wardrobes in the apartment. The task is solved by a 6-meter walk-in closet accessible from the hallway.
Additional visual expansion of space is provided by mirrors. For example, vertical mirror inserts in the dining area. The segment between them serves as a functional cluster for storing glossy items and small objects that should be within reach. This construction, like most furniture pieces, is an original design by Lena Fateeva, created and implemented specifically for this interior. Mirror finishing is also applied to two walls of the bathroom.
Additional depth and a new spatial dimension are added by posters from the photo project 'Present Continuous' created by Natasha Egorova, Nikolay Gavlyuk, and Oleg Nitsko.
