Family Apartment with Three Children in Paris

Architecture agency Anne-Laure Dubois renovated a 100 square meter apartment in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, France, owned by a family with three children.

Existing wooden floors were restored to their original color; they were complemented with a restrained palette, unified throughout the apartment. The base of the new color scheme consists of dark blue cement tiles used extensively in the interior—from the small triangular-patterned island in the living room to the large hexagonal tile square marking the kitchen area.

In addition, all rooms, including the owners' bedroom and hallway, feature blue-painted walls. The kitchen counter base is also in the same shade.

"The motifs and sizes of individual details may vary, but all elements of the interior share one common thread—dark blue," says the architect.

A portion of the wall separating the living room from the kitchen and foyer was removed, retaining only the supporting steel column. This modification made the space light and open, creating more distinct relationships between the three different areas, which still retain their functions and characteristics.

Instead of a bulky cabinet previously located in the kitchen zone, an elegant glass partition with a steel frame was installed.

The kitchen corner cabinets are clad in poplar wood plywood and finished with a white composite worktop.

Two children's bedrooms are located at the back of the apartment. One of the children’s rooms features a large black-and-white drawing depicting exotic animals and birds.

The parents’ bedroom continues this nature theme with green plant-patterned wallpaper.
