The family couple, an artist and an engineer, had a long list of requirements for the architects of the Heliotrope Architects studio, who designed the project of their new house in Capitol Hill, a trendy youth area in Seattle, USA.

All of this was made possible thanks to the layout of a 325-square-meter building in the form of a checkerboard, where open and closed spaces alternate. A small patio in the center of the house fills the interior with light. Walls painted white harmonize with soft pastel tones of the comfortable furniture.

One of the walls of the main living room is equipped with a custom-made bookshelf with gaps in the upper row of shelves. The floor covering combines polished concrete, tiles, and California laurel wood, perfectly matching the atmosphere of individual spaces in the house.

One of the features of the bathroom is the décor elements made from thuja and a Japanese-style bathtub, which in combination with pale turquoise tiles create an atmosphere of cool freshness.

The art studio is equipped in a two-light space. It can be accessed directly from the adjacent living room.
