Designer Pietro Russo created the interior of an apartment for a young couple in Milan, Italy. The atmosphere of the home is a carrier of a certain culture and proposed a direction for the development of decoration. The new emerges from the old. The project approach follows the style of the building constructed in the 1930s. The design concept is composed of an architectural background that imparts visual continuity to the environment. Preserving the cornices and bay windows, the living area was expanded while avoiding changes to the original layout. Occupying part of the bedroom, a niche was formed for placing a built-in kitchen. Built from fiber cement, it does not take up much space and does not create significant thickness. Surfaces made of marble and wood, as well as a glass cabinet, continue the historical image while also becoming part of the new scenario. The floor, sink, and shower tray in the bathroom are made of black marble, which also alludes to the past and maintains a unified atmosphere in the space.
