House with Large Windows in Japan21 photos
Working on this project in the city of Kyoto, Japan, were employees of EXH Design together with Anoffice. The building is a small structure of 120 square meters located near central attractions. To blend with the residential area's landscape, the same material was used in construction as in other buildings.
The only exception were the large windows installed to provide good lighting and allow observation of street life. The first floor houses a studio, while the second and third floors are designed as the main living space with a separate entrance. The open facade is made of wood, just like the kitchen cabinet and floors inside the building. Windows play a key role in the interaction between the interior and the surrounding landscape. On the first floor, they open to a mini-garden, while on the second and third floors they transform the street space into a private showcase.
