The Pivot project by Architecture Workshop PC is a renovation of a pre-war studio in New York. The updated space of modern interior features a secret bedroom, living room, home office, and kitchen, all within 37 square meters of open apartment space. Wooden decorative elements create various spatial experiences during use. Starting from calm white walls, the view transitions to a rich wood interior. Many furniture construction details are multifunctional. The rotating large wall cabinet creates two separate storage spaces, each usable independently. Wardrobes on both sides of the bed create a large closet. The sliding sofa allows guests to sleep in their own separate room. The kitchen has pull-out drawers for storage. A height-adjustable table can be used for a home office or as additional surface during dinner with guests. The compact bathroom accommodates a sink and shower with a foldable glass door. The multi-purpose finish structure blurs the difference between architecture and furniture, creating a seamless combination of functions that transform through interaction with residents.
