Sales Office Dacheng by YI Design

Completed in October 2022, Dacheng — Jiangnan Floral Elegance, Sales Office by YI Design redefines how architecture can connect with nature, culture and life, within the confines of a traditional 'box-like' volume. The project uses gentle curves and sculptural forms to create an immersive spatial journey, weaving in elements of Eastern philosophy, modern design and parametric modeling.

Concept: Rebirth of Inner Space and a Gaze at the Universe

Inspired by cosmic origins of life and Eastern mythology about spinning chaos, YI Design aimed to express motion and eternity. The interior rejects rigid straight angles, instead utilizing curves reminiscent of rivers, waves, clouds and human forms.

These curves form a vortex spatial core, supported by load-bearing columns and complex nested forms. The suspended central volume — connected to ceiling and floor — reinforces the design, creating a spacious open interior that traditional rectangular systems could not achieve.

Eastern Curves and Unity of Man with Nature

The design emphasizes Eastern curves, which are more than aesthetic gestures — they embody infinity and harmony between man and nature.

The central structure opens into double curved passages guiding visitors through space. Around this sculptural core unfold functional zones such as the lobby, meeting rooms, bar, activity areas and VIP zones, like pathways through a landscape park.

The result is a fluid spatial choreography where movement and stillness coexist, allowing users to experience both intimacy and grandeur.

Interior Landscapes and Experiential Design

The interior becomes a sculptural landscape, folds and flows extend outward, creating abstract images of mountains, rivers and horizons. These gestures simultaneously fulfill functional needs and create poetic encounters, blurring the boundary between architecture and art.

Lighting plays a key role: daylight and fixtures enliven the curves, while indirect lighting at night mimics starlight. The bar under a vault with soft lighting becomes the central point, and jellyfish installations in restrooms evoke immersion into an underwater world.

Materials and Spatial Drama

A minimalist palette of black, white and neutral tones accentuates the sculptural qualities of curves. Clay bricks, smooth surfaces and dark stone panels combine with parametric modeling techniques, providing both performance and artistic value.

The central steel staircase, spiraling upward, connects private offices and VIP zones on the second floor. Its curved geometry enhances the visual drama of the building, emphasizing themes of continuity.

Parametric Design and Five Senses

Beneath the poetic design lies a rigorous parametric process. YI Design established parameters for geometry, materials and performance, enabling precise balance of form and function. The result is a space that affects not only visually but also the five senses: light, sound, texture, air and movement combine to shape the human experience.

Conclusion: Infinity Within Curved Forms

The Sales Office Dacheng demonstrates how architecture can transcend commercial function to become a spiritual and artistic environment. Embracing curves rooted in Eastern philosophy, the design expresses both strength and gentleness, order and fluidity.

As architectural critic Michael Sorkin once wrote, 'its freely flowing space is completely unlike Mesa's modernism but just as powerful.' This project represents a bold exploration of infinity within form, creating a sales office that feels more like a cosmic journey than a commercial space.
