Famous Landscape Firm Unveils Its Projects at Hyatt Regency Koh Samui Hotel
KOH SAMUI, Thailand (November 16, 2021) — One of Thailand's most respected landscape architects, Vannaporn Pueyforntip, announced her project at the new Hyatt Regency Koh Samui hotel as one of her most "special" achievements.
Vannaporn, managing director of Bangkok-based firm P Landscape (PLA), has led numerous award-winning projects. Under her leadership, the landscape design studio boasts a portfolio including notable landmarks such as 137 Pillars House in Chiang Mai and the Bangkok Museum of Modern Art.

Her unequivocal praise of the Hyatt Regency Koh Samui hotel speaks to her high level of satisfaction with the executed work.
"Everything was special from the beginning," she says. "The passionate investment of all project participants. We cannot say enough how proud we are of the Hyatt Regency Koh Samui hotel."
The collaboration between three leading names in Thai hospitality design — Office of Bangkok Architecture, August Design, and P Landscape — resulted in a 140-room hotel located on eight acres of private coastline at the northeastern tip of this paradise island. The beauty of Koh Samui is legendary, and the hotel's appeal is rooted in its visual attraction to the shoreline, forest with protected trees, and proximity to the ocean.

Vannaporn says the stunning hotel landscape was the first impression she received when bringing her team on board.
"Our concept for the Hyatt Regency Koh Samui hotel began to take shape after the initial visit by PLA's team under our design director Sutisa Patanapichit," she says. "It was truly a collaborative effort from us, the architectural team, interior design, and Mr. Itichai Pulvaraluk to convey this beautiful landscape into a unique experience that harmoniously blends with guests' lifestyles."
Using an advanced approach to design, the hotel located in Northern Chaweng — just minutes from the island's international airport — presents itself as a "gallery of relaxation" through its many visual accents.

Among these features is a striking lobby, the longest entrance hall on Koh Samui island, where numerous skylights provide natural lighting from sun and moon. Other standout features include luxurious rooms with spectacular ocean views and one of the largest pool zones on the island, featuring a series of pools descending from the main pool on the upper terrace.
This feature particularly delights Vannaporn, who highlights it as one of her favorite aspects of the hotel.
"We are especially proud of the pool area," she says. "Each terrace offers variety in guest types and lifestyle. The upper level is ideal for families with children, with a kids’ pool adjacent to the main one. The lower level by the beach is more vibrant and reflects a party atmosphere at the hotel's Sesun (beach bar)."

"The rotation of dark and light tiles imitates the glow of waves reflecting sunlight, and the gradual shift in tones reflects the constantly changing color of the ocean throughout the day."
Harmony with Koh Samui's natural conditions is at the core of Hyatt Regency Koh Samui’s landscape design. Indeed, the hotel includes approximately 80 local Yang Na (Dipterocarpus alatus) trees, traditionally used by sailors and fishermen as landmarks. Vannaporn believes this harmonious blend with nature is beneficial for the hotel.
"It's very important to understand that landscape and nature are not static; they are seasonal, temporal, and dynamic," she says. "Preserving local trees gives this project a unique aesthetic that endures. At PLA, we believe nothing is more enduring than protecting beauty meant to be here."
