Some do not appreciate the charm of old and especially Haussmann apartments in the capital. For Maya, an interior designer from Atelier Hans, it's exactly the opposite. When she visited this apartment on Rue de la Paix, at the end of a Parisian courtyard, far from Avenue General Leclerc, she immediately felt its potential. Potential in terms of space, as it spans 146 m2 and is distributed across two floors; charming potential, because its cozy location at the end of a rural courtyard makes it very peaceful; and decorative potential, as Haussmann style—though it may need revival—is still present beneath various changes made by previous owners.

Traces of the Old Awaken

Signs of old age had been damaged and it was necessary to revive the charm of Haussmann style. Of three removed marble fireplaces, the architect found an identical one for the living room. The already fragmented predecessor project was revised, and the disconnection was emphasized: the kitchen was fitted with a glass roof that opens into the dining room. In some areas, baseboards were covered with plaster to restore the Hausmann style uniformly. The parquet floor was also a major project, as level differences remained and required leveling using appropriate underlayment. Tedious but necessary work for a flat floor. Fully appreciating the charm of the old, Maya from Atelier Hans discovered old parquet, laid in a chain pattern, to once again honor the Haussmann legacy. The work was thoroughly carried out on the second floor: separated as a distinct living space with different floors, it was essential to first revisit these key elements and revive the charm of Parisian apartments.
