9 New Trends in Bathroom Design
Minimalism or rich decor? Subtle monochrome or bright colors? Modern style or retro references? Everything works in the new year. The main thing is to decide what suits you better. And we, together with OBI experts, explain how to apply the latest trends in real life and create a stylish interior.
Natural Materials
The trend toward eco-friendliness and mindful living is also reflected in bathroom design: natural materials and natural textures create a harmonious atmosphere and transform an ordinary bathroom into a place for relaxation after a busy day or spa rituals.
Opt for a calm color palette, stone, and wood in the finish. By the way, there's no need to fear wood: with proper care, it easily coexists with "wet" areas.

Lacquered geometric shapes
A few years ago, designers once again actively turned to the vibrant and distinctive Memphis style, invented in the 80s, and continue using its elements today. In essence, the love for geometry we see in many projects now is a reference to Memphis aesthetics.
Indeed, instead of an explosion of colors, we now prefer neutral shades and contrasting details that emphasize strict lines. This makes the interior look assembled and harmonious.

Bright Colors
Another trend is the use of saturated, vibrant color which creates an interior that always looks fresh and uplifts your mood. Especially great is the look of bright shades when combined with neutral light backgrounds.
When choosing a color palette, rely on two winning approaches: either prefer glossy "candy" tones or stop at matte textures and deep complex shades. Non-standard lighting fixtures and accessories will make the interior even more on-trend.

Or the "tone-on-tone" scheme
A good idea is to use different shades of one color for interior decoration. This creates a calm but not boring atmosphere. For this variant, choose refined, slightly polished colors: the bathroom will look luxurious and noble. Depth to the interior can be added with chrome details and snow-white elements.

Black Details
Black mixers, shower heads, and other elements look very stylish and particularly suit modern minimalist interiors or lofts. See how Ekaterina Oleynikova interpreted this trend: as a background — dark matte paint, floor tiles with an active geometric pattern, black mixers and shower zone finishes, monochrome art on the wall. Perfect!

Bronze or Gold
If you want to create a more refined and vibrant interior, pay attention to golden or brass elements — they always add charm. They blend perfectly with classic white "barn" finishes and bright tropical prints. For completing the look, consider retro details: for example, a small round cosmetic mirror with a ceramic base.

Shower Without Threshold
This solution always looks flawless: nothing extra. Yes, it's not the easiest to implement — it's important to plan the water drainage system using traps and channels, raising the floor level, installing slip-resistant flooring, and ensuring reliable waterproofing throughout the bathroom in case of emergencies. But the result is always worth it.

Terrazzo
Terrazzo was invented in Venice as a way to dispose of marble scraps. Today, the term refers to small pieces of marble, stone, and glass cast in cement into a single slab. A big advantage of such flooring in the bathroom is that it doesn't slip. However, terrazzo usually looks very “classical,” so we recommend using it sparingly. For example, only on the floor and one wall, mixed with modern details and complemented with trendy shades.

Plants – Living and Ornamental
Residents of big cities increasingly miss nature — this is reflected in interior trends. Those who prefer a vibrant atmosphere should pay attention to luxurious tropical prints: the easiest way is to use tile panels or vinyl wallpaper with hot embossing, which suits bathrooms.
If you prefer calm interiors, place a couple of live plants in attractive planters in the bathroom. The key is to choose plants that love high humidity and can live without sunlight. For example, suitable are dracaena, sansevieria, chlorophytum, philodendron, monstera, and cyperus.
