How Designers Redesigned Old Apartments (Photos Before and After Will Amaze You)

Trash on Arbat

Designer Olga Tsurikova faced a challenging task, as the apartment is located in a 1928 building with wooden floors, which made re-planning impossible. Therefore, they worked with the existing space. The project was completed in four months. In living rooms, they created a bedroom and two children's rooms.

To refresh the interior of a typical Stalin apartment, designers Andrei and Elena Uranov installed tall doors and removed sills to let more light into the living room. They focused on English paints and natural wood floors. The final touch was colorful furniture and decor.

Designer Daria Nazarenko wanted to create a home interior reflecting her client’s individuality and stay within a small budget. The solution was combining all spaces into one studio, plus transformable furniture that turns the living room into a bedroom.

The apartment that designers Elena Muzichenko and Marina Svyatoduh had to work with was so 'killed' that cosmetic interventions were no longer sufficient. The labor-intensive renovation included full replacement of outdated utilities and all non-load-bearing partitions.

The layout of the apartment in an old block house wasn't convenient: small area and minimal storage space. Designer Anna Rims found an optimal solution to the problem: she removed old partitions and built new ones to create a kitchen niche, and found space for a wardrobe, utility room, and shower.

Renovation in an old apartment required complete demolition of internal partitions and construction of new ones. With the help of designer Sergey Khrabrovsky, they created a spacious kitchen-living room and private bedroom in light tones instead of two isolated rooms. The result is impressive.
