10 Terrifying Buildings That Instill Fear
Last year we shared with you a collection of abandoned houses that gave goosebumps. But there are still so many amazing mystical places we wanted to tell you about! That's why for Halloween we prepared a new collection of mysterious abandoned buildings.
Russia
A mystical sphere the size of a five-story building is located in Tver Oblast, near Dubna. According to the official version, this unusual object was being transported by airplane in the 1980s, but the sphere detached from the cables and fell into the forest. The exact purpose of this structure is unknown, so it's not surprising that legends have started to form around the sphere. The most popular legend, of course, is that this sphere has extraterrestrial origins.

A majestic abandoned complex stands in the Caspian Sea – the eighth workshop of the Dagdiesel factory. Originally built in 1939 for testing naval weapons, it was decommissioned from the factory's balance in 1966. Now standing in open sea, it resembles an ancient monster.

Norway
The psychiatric clinic 'Lier Sekhous' has a gloomy past that matches the classic tropes of horror films: it was once used for experiments on patients. For unknown reasons, four hospital blocks were abandoned, while the remaining parts of the building continue to function today.

USA
Nestled on Seneca Lake in New York state is a creepy abandoned cottage. Notably, a graveyard of equally gloomy old cars has formed next to the dark house.

The castle on Pollepel Island once served as a warehouse where wealthy trader Frank Bannerman stored his weapons. However, due to a fire in 1969, the building was heavily damaged, and the state government decided not to spend money on its restoration.

North Korea
The Ryugang Hotel in Pyongyang was prophesied to have a grand future if it could be completed on time. According to the 1987 plan, the building was supposed to become the world's tallest hotel at 330 meters. Construction lasted more than 20 years, after which it was decided to put at least part of it into operation. But that hasn't happened yet.

Belgium
The beautiful castle 'Miranda', built in 1886, is uninhabited due to disagreements between local authorities and the heirs of its former owner.

In the city of Montso stands a majestic structure – a cooling tower for water at an electric power station. The tower has not been in operation since 2007, and over that time its interior has been overtaken by moss and ferns, giving the tower a mysterious appearance.

United Kingdom
The 'Mansella' forts, resembling elephants from Dalí’s paintings, were built during World War II. These structures protected the United Kingdom from German troops.

Colombia
Finally – a chilling story about a haunted abandoned hotel named 'Salto'. The hotel is located next to the picturesque waterfall called Tekwendenam, which translates to 'open door'. The indigenous people believe this place is a conduit to the spiritual world. Several years after its opening, the hotel had to be closed due to increasing cases of visitor suicides. Over time, the building became covered in ominous legends about ghosts that permanently reside in the hotel.
