Tired of constantly overpaying for electricity? You might be making common mistakes. Check our checklist
LED bulbs

A simple and effective way to save on lighting. If you're still using traditional "hundreds" of watts, you're wasting up to 40% of electricity unnecessarily. Replace all light bulbs in your home with LED ones — this will halve your consumption. Of course, they are more expensive than regular ones, but they pay for themselves in half a month. Also, don't forget to clean them occasionally: accumulated dust forces bulbs to overheat and use more energy than necessary.

Important: LED bulbs save up to 50% of electricity.

Turn off lights

Planning to leave a room? Don't forget to turn off the lights. For some reason, almost every second person forgets this simple rule, yet it actually helps save on electricity. This rule also applies to TVs: don't neglect turning them off while you're away. Watching programs on the screen is not interesting, and you can save money.

Important: Turn on TVs and computers through a power strip with an on/off switch. This way, you can turn off devices that are still running even when you're not using them with just one click.

Appliances like irons, electric kettles, and washing machines accumulate scale over time: it increases electricity consumption — the device needs more time to reach the required temperature. Don't be lazy and use citric acid to clean heating elements. Clean dishwashers and washing machines with special cleaning agents: this extends their lifespan and also saves electricity.

Also, if your refrigerator is located in the kitchen next to a stove, it consumes significantly more energy. If possible, place it in a hallway or somewhere where it won't be exposed to sunlight or heat from other appliances.

Important: A refrigerator in a warm room uses twice as much energy.

Playing with Colors

Try painting the ceiling in light tones and replacing wallpaper with the same shades: this will help maintain natural lighting and save electricity. The darker a room, the more light is needed.

Important: In summer, with light-colored walls, you won't need lamps at all — lighting costs will drop by 80%. Plan the painting for winter.

Heat Reflective Screens

Heat reflective screens for radiators can help reduce electricity consumption during winter — for example, made from expanded polyethylene. These screens raise the overall indoor temperature by several degrees and prevent excess heat from escaping outdoors.

Important: Keeping heat in the countryside is very expensive. Keep this lifehack in mind.

Insulate Your Home

Insulating your apartment can significantly reduce electricity consumption: this eliminates cold bridges where heat leaks out unnecessarily. In winter, you'll use less heat; in summer, you'll maintain cooler conditions.

Important: When we feel cold, we use more hot water to warm up, which also affects meter readings.
