Any bathroom can be brought to a decent appearance. See for yourself how Russian designers did it.

Bathroom renovation often involves dismantling partitions, finishing materials, and replacing all utilities. But don't despair: owners of apartments in this selection gave their utility rooms a second life with the help of professionals.

Bathroom with Washing Machine in Khrushchyovka

Marina Merenkova had to work hard with the layout of a bathroom in a tiny apartment in a khrushchyovka. Previously, instead of a towel rack, there was a self-made construction from a cast iron radiator with a tap, and the toilet stood almost right up against the washing machine, making it inconvenient to use.

"We installed a special sink with a flat trap above the washing machine and freed up space for the toilet. The most unexpected thing was the cabinet in the bathroom. We all, including the builders, thought that there were risers behind it. But when we started demolition, it turned out that this was part of a load-bearing wall, and the risers were in the neighbors' apartments. We had to get acquainted with our neighbors," — the designer recounts.

Bathroom with Bathtub in Stalin-era Building

Before the renovation, the tiny bathroom in a Stalin-era apartment left no chance for placing a washing machine and boiler. Designer Natalya Solo expanded the area by using the corridor and chose a unified color palette to enhance the sense of space.

Bathroom Redesign in Old Building

As a result of a radical apartment redesign, designers from Mikhail Novinsky's studio created two bathrooms instead of one. The interior is unrecognizable: instead of plain beige walls, they used gray "pig" and concrete-style tiles, adding color through blue paint.

Combined Bathroom in Stalin-era Building

During the renovation, difficulties arose: employees of the gas service did not allow relocating the gas water heater because pipes in the bathroom led to neighbors. Therefore, Marina Merenkova left the heater in its place but moved the mixers to the opposite wall. Above the installation and opposite the toilet, the designer provided storage cabinets for household items.

Standard Bathroom Without Redesign

In this bathroom, designer Maria Bezuglova refused to redesign and kept the standard furniture layout. However, she selected multifunctional furniture: a mirror-cabinet and a sink with a cabinet for storage organization.
